Superintendent Max Torgerson
I am proud to serve as the Superintendent of Hill City School District — a community that has played an important role in both my personal and professional life. As a former Hill City resident, I understand the pride our community takes in its school and the important role our district plays in shaping the future of our students and our town.
Before becoming superintendent, I had the opportunity to be part of the inaugural HCN Storm coaching staff. That experience helped build strong connections with our students, families, and communities, and it reinforced my belief that schools are about far more than academics alone. Athletics, activities, arts, and community involvement all play an important role in developing well-rounded students and building school pride.
As superintendent, I believe strongly in maintaining a relentless pursuit of student achievement while also ensuring that every student feels welcomed, supported, and valued. In a small school setting, relationships matter. Our size gives us the opportunity to know our students personally, support them individually, and create meaningful educational experiences that prepare them for success after graduation.
My focus is centered on supporting high-quality teaching and learning, strengthening school culture, supporting staff growth, and ensuring Hill City students have opportunities that rival any school in the state. I believe our students deserve both high expectations and strong support systems, and I am committed to working alongside our staff, families, school board, and community to continue moving our district forward.
It is an honor to serve the students, families, and communities of Hill City School District. Thank you for your continued support of our schools and our students.
